How direct billing works at Trust Care
Trust Care Physiotherapy direct bills more than 40 extended health insurers, WCB Alberta, and motor vehicle accident claims under Alberta’s Section B accident benefits. For covered treatment that means you pay nothing up front. We submit the claim electronically at the end of your appointment.
Extended health plans
Most extended health plans in Alberta cover physiotherapy, registered massage therapy and often chiropractic, usually up to an annual limit and sometimes at a percentage rather than in full. Bring your policy and certificate number to your first visit and we will check what is available before you are treated, so there are no surprises.

WCB Alberta
Trust Care is an approved WCB Alberta provider. For an accepted workplace claim we bill WCB directly, so approved treatment costs you nothing. We provide progress reporting to WCB and, where it is appropriate, a graded return-to-work plan built around your actual job tasks. We can also complete a functional capacity evaluation if the claim calls for one.
Motor vehicle accidents and Section B
After a collision in Alberta, treatment is covered by the at-fault-independent Section B accident benefits on the vehicle’s policy, not by your extended health plan. Under the province’s Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols, injuries such as whiplash associated disorders, sprains and strains are eligible for pre-approved physiotherapy when treatment starts within the protocol timeframe. We confirm your eligibility, handle the paperwork and bill the auto insurer directly.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a physician referral to book physiotherapy in Alberta. Some extended health policies do require one before they will reimburse, so it is worth reading your policy or calling your provider before your first appointment.
