What registered massage therapy is used for

Registered massage therapy at Trust Care is most often used for chronic muscle tension through the neck, shoulders and low back, for recovery after an injury, and alongside a physiotherapy plan where tight or guarded muscle is limiting progress.

  • Chronic neck, shoulder and upper back tension, often desk-related
  • Low back tightness and spasm
  • Recovery after a motor vehicle accident or workplace injury
  • Pregnancy-related discomfort
  • Post-exercise recovery and general muscle soreness

Working alongside physiotherapy

Because physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage all run from the same clinic, your massage therapist can see what your physiotherapist is working on and treat in a way that supports it, rather than pulling in a different direction. If your treatment is part of a WCB or motor vehicle accident claim, it is handled on the same claim.

What to expect at your first massage appointment

Your therapist will ask what is bothering you, what makes it better or worse, and what you need to be able to do. Treatment is adjusted to your comfort throughout, and you are always in control of the pressure used. You will usually be given one or two things to do at home to hold the change.

Coverage

Registered massage therapy is covered by most extended health plans in Alberta, usually up to an annual limit. Trust Care submits the claim directly where your plan allows it. Bring your policy and certificate number to your first visit.
