Common questions
A few things people often ask before their first visit.
Do I need a doctor's referral to start WCB physiotherapy?
In Alberta you can usually begin physiotherapy for a workplace injury without a physician referral. Once you have an open WCB-Alberta claim, our team can assess you and start treatment right away. If you have not opened a claim yet, we can walk you through the next steps.
Does Trust Care bill WCB directly?
Yes. For approved WCB-Alberta claims we bill the Workers' Compensation Board directly, so there are no out-of-pocket costs to you for covered treatment.
What types of workplace injuries do you treat?
We treat a wide range of work-related injuries, including back and neck strains, sprains, shoulder and knee injuries, repetitive strain injuries, and recovery after a workplace fracture or surgery. Your physiotherapist builds a plan around your specific injury and job demands.
How soon after a workplace injury should I start physiotherapy?
Starting an assessment early often helps recovery. As soon as your injury has been reported and you are medically cleared to begin rehab, contact us to book an initial assessment. We will tailor the plan to where you are in your recovery.
Will you support my return to work and report to WCB?
Yes. We provide progress reporting to WCB-Alberta and, where appropriate, a graduated return-to-work plan that considers your job tasks. We can also complete a Functional Capacity Evaluation if one is requested for your claim.
